Hagiographal attempt, through storyboard graphics, to portray Che Guevara as a pure Socialist who sought to free African, Caribbean and South American countries from the despots who replaced the earlier colonialists. The United States, particularly the CIA agents, is given a negative role continuing the subjugation for decades. Che, here is not seen as endorsing Communism and is shown to break with Castro over that matter. Che is drawn as a nationalist (for others, he was Argentinian) who attempted to aid countries willing to throw off the manipulation of foreign interests and begin self-government as a communal enterprise. Armed conflict was necessary at the beginning, for Che. Che was wounded by US Special Forces soldiers (the author calls them Army Rangers but only Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols existed in 1967) but the circumstances of his actual death are unreliable. Che For Beginners concludes that Che's Idealism for his cause led him to abandon his family and his fellow revolutionaries (Castro) to remain a man of his word to fight against injustice without political compromise. This book is readable for high schoolers and gives an historical outline to view him within the larger history of the United States of America. Although Che is presented as a philosophical theorist for political liberation, this book omits to examine his use of armed forces in the cause of justice. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
