I have tagged this as "IWW" mostly out of attention to detail. This Author has had the temerity to involve his writing with the true story of the 1917 murder of IWW organizer Frank Little, but has made such hash of that incident, as indeed of everything elsein this volume, that a reader will manage to emerge miraculously knowing less about Frank Little, about Butte, Montana, and indeed about practically everything else. This was McCaig's debut novel, I believe. Somehow he managed to follow it up with more fiction, and indeed achieve something of a positive reputation; strange indeed are the ways of fortune. ( )
