This book is a story about a group of animals that the creator made out of combining two animals, such as moosel which is a moose and a seal, rhinokey a rhino and a monkey and butterbear which is a butterfly and a bear. This story is about butterbear's birthday and moosel is trying to figure out what to get him. moosel wants to get butterbear a basket of appleberries, but has a hard time getting them out of the tree because he so small. Finally in the end his friends come together and help him by carrying him to the top of the tree so he can get the appleberries.
I really enjoyed this book. It is something i can relate to and i believe my students can relate to because of the friendships in the book and the animals helping out their friend and sticking together.
For classroom extension ideas i would have the kids play trust games where they can learn to rely on their friends.For example i would divide the students up into groups of 3 and blindfold one of the students and have the other two guide them around the room. I would also have the kids pair up with another student in the class that they may not normally hang out with and have them talk and learn as much as possible about the other student. ( )
