Another heartwarming story, and I believe the last story in the "Little Hickman Creek" series. I read a part of Michelle Sutton's review on this story and she described this story very well: "Flawed characters with painful pasts embark on a spiritual journey where love and reconciliation team up to make for an exciting tale." I must say I closed this book and this series with a very satisfied sigh!

Emma Browning runs the boardinghouse in Little Hickman Creek and she is a no-nonsense lady who runs a tight ship. She grew up with a lot of pain being the only child of an alcoholic father named Ezra, who treated her very badly growing up. No one can get very close to Emma because of the barriers she has put up. But when Jonathan Atkins comes back to town as the pastor, she will find she has met her match. Jonathan will move into the boardinghouse and start to "dismantle her carefully controlled world". Not only that but Jonathan will take on the town drunk, her father Ezra, and reach out to him, along with several others from town. What a glorious transformation Christ can do in the lives of people! There really are no "lost causes" as far as the Lord is concerned.

I love the way this author writes and she is on my favorite authors list. The people and the town will grow on you and you will find yourself cheering them on, laughing with them and crying with them. There are those who are hard to love and easy to love. Everyone has problems but don't we all. A series of books that will sit on my shelf and be remembered with fondness every time I pass by. Saddle up and head to Little Hickman Creek for a delightful time! ( )

I had been looking forward to reading the story of Emma and Jon. This book had me crying a few times. It was a sweet story of love and redemption. I wish the stories of the people of Little Hickman would continue. ( )
