Good range of characters from likable but flawed, to so evil, the devil would avoid them. ( ) Growing up in a lab in a small cell has left the heroine with no clue on how to deal with human interactions. Though she's miles more advanced in social situations than her brother she still has moments of awkwardness. And she does possess a bleeding heart so when she intervenes a vigilante murder, she's pissed to realize that somehow his blood and her blood have mixed and that creates some worry as those around her can't help but look at her with horror and sympathy. The hero, the leader of the little group insists in his sexy, take charge no nonsense type of way that she must accompany him back to their hideout. Below ground in an abandon military bunker, the hero and his crew live in a prison of their own making. Infected with a virus that slowly and plainly decays their flesh and drives them crazy, they are living on borrowed time until the hero can come up with a cure. Infected himself but immune to the disease, the hero lives with constant torment that it was he who made this illness and he is to blame for everything though he was tricked into making it by the enemy. The heroine has been searching for the scientist responsible for taking her engineered blood and turning it into a plague but she's horrified to discover that the man she desires above all others in also her enemy. I did like this story but not nearly as much as I loved the first in the series. To me a lot of the same plot and action was repeated but will less spectacular results. The heroine in particular was a sore spot for me. One minute she's sarcastic and witty and funny then the next she's playing the whole 'I don't understand emotions or social mannerisms'. She was doing pretty well on her own. I was on the fence regarding the hero as well. He was tortured and had the same robotic speak and manners of the hero in the previous book but he was also a hippy and spoke in elaborate sayings and profound quotes. I thought the two of them were pretty muddled as characters, like they couldn't figure out what they wanted to be. I liked the whole dawn of the dead zombie-firefly reaver-thing. Though they don't actually get into the bunker until well into the story so the scenes with the savage crazy people felt rushed. Overall it was a decent story, lots of action and a healthy dose of romance but it came nowhere near the sparkler of the first of the series. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Tatiana has honed her genetic gifts to perfection. Nothing gets to her, until she meets Tristan, who ramps her heart rate up to dangerous levels. But before they can start some chemistry of their own, they have to survive being trapped in an underground lab, hunted by a madman and exposed to a plague that could destroy mankind.
