Running from the Dark Man, Ram has stumbled into another mystery. He sees strange lights in the night sky, and shadowy people. He runs from them and, after falling, is rescued by a strange old woman called Bella. Who is Bella and why is she helping him? What does she know about the people who are going missing? No-one is paying much attention to here because the people who are going missing are individuals from the fringes of society, the sort of people who are not missed. It is a strange town he has landed in and worse, he comes down with a fever and must stay put.
The boy next door, Ryan, who seems to want to help him, warns him about Bella and her friend, the Catman, an apparent tramp and misfit in the community. Bella, the Catman and Ryan have all noticed that people are mysteriously disappearing. Ryan blames the other two but Ram is not convinced, although there is some mystery about Bella’s past. Ram is beginning to unravel the mystery and discover just who the man is called Destiny when the Dark Man finds him again. How and what has he got to do with some of the people in the town? Just when Ram thinks it is safe to run, he discovers another terrifying truth. One that means no-one is safe anywhere
Another excellent fast paced thriller with a plot that picks us up and carries us along with Ram's increasingly frightening attempts to escape to safety from his unknown pursuer, the Dark Man.
On one level this is a fast-paced adventure story with cliffhangers and twists, but there is a second, deeper level, one which explores what it is like to have no memory and understanding of a previous life and how terrifying that can be.
A good adventure story, leaving the reader ready for the final installment! ( )
