Old MacDonald with his grayish hair and white collared sweater runs his farm with his wife and in the end they have a baby - otherwise the rhyme is entirely familiar. Old MacDonald reacting to goats munching away in his flower bed adds some humor the story. SImple illustrations will appeal to young children. ( )

24 months - I guess I've just sung this song in the car to O a few too many times. The illustrations are just average and doesn't help to ease the pain of the repetitive nature of the song. I'm not going to touch on the 20 years age difference between he and his wife! ( )

Summary- This traditional literature book is about a farmer who lives on a farm. He introduces all of his animals. When the animals are being introduced the book also allows the audience to make different animal sounds.

Personal Reaction- I was no stranger to this book. I've sang this song numerous times growing up. It is a very catchy song and I like how you can say the sounds that the animal makes.

Classroom Extension- 1. One classroom extension is that I can make motions to each of the animals and as I read the book the kids will not only say the animal sound but they will also do the motion to that animal.
2. Also you could let each child pick and animal and then draw it and explain what noise it makes.

Summ3. ary:
Traditional Tale of Old MacDonald. In this tale the farmer has a wife, dog, sheep, horse, hens, goat, ducks, cow, and a pig. At the end you hear a new sound "waa, waa". The farmer has a baby.
Fun story with all the animal sounds.
Personal Reaction:
The story was good because it had action, each animal made a noise and the children enjoy making the sounds with you. Bright Illustartion.
Extension ideas:
1. Go over other animals that could be on the farm and what sounds they make, during group time.
2. Make puppets on popsicle sticks of each animal in book.
3. I would use Comanche Language to use names of animals in Comanche Language. ( )
