DCI George Hennessey is reluctantly acceding to his superior’s request that he expand his investigative team within the York police; most recently, DC Carmen Pharoah is assigned to work with Hennessey, Sergeant Yellich and other recruits DC Reginald Webster and DS Thompson Ventnor. When a petty thief tells them a story he has heard concerning the hiding of a body some ten years previously, the team is quick to find said corpse, identify it and trace the family of the deceased. This in turn leads them to a very shadowy, deeply racist organization, and several more corpses, including one very recent indeed….I very much enjoy the Hennessey and Yellich series, this being the 17th; Mr. Turnbull’s plain writing style is remarkably suited to the police procedural. We are finally seeing DCI Hennessey begin to grapple with his own aging, albeit reluctantly, and although he continues to be quite “hands on” in this entry, it will be interesting to see how much longer he can avoid delegating tasks and manning a desk. Recommended! (P.S. For some reason, my LT page insists that this is an audio book; it is not, I am reviewing the paperback edition from Severn House.) ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

The latest Hennessey and Yellich mystery Hennessey and Yellich find themselves seeking the body of a man missing for ten years. But the mystery turns into murder and naturally the bossy widow, nicknamed the long-haired colonel by her husband, is a suspect in his murder. And then a second and third body is discovered along with a particularly nasty brand of political extremism involving just a few too many respected local businessmen . . .
