In the book, Eyes of Kid Midas, Kevin (the main character) goes on a field trip with his class. Bertrum, the class bully, beats up Kevin and his friend Josh. The next day Kevin and Josh decide to climb the mountain to prove to everyone that they are brave. They climb all night and when they reach the top Bertrum and Hal (Bertrum's sidekick) are right behind them. They make a mad dash up the mountain but when Kevin and Josh reach the top, Kevin finds a pair of glasses. They run down the mountain and Kevin wishes for ice cream. Ice cream appears from nowhere in his hands. From then on he wished for everything he could ever want. He soon realized that he can't undo anything that he wishes for. The glasses break and every thought that goes through his mind comes true. Now the whole world is mixed up and Kevin doesn't know what to do. The whole world just stops. Even rain drops stop in mid-air. Only Kevin is still moving. Kevin decides to go back to the mountain where he found the glasses and he puts them back. When he opens his eyes he is back to where he was, Kevin, Josh, Bertrum, and Hall were racing up the mountain but this time he didn't pick up the glasses.

The book was rated a three and a half. I think people rated it that way because of the ending. Personally, I liked the ending. When I asked around most people said they did not like the ending. I would rate this book a five because it was really interesting and I wished that it would never end. Sadly, Eyes of Kid Midas was the only book and there isn't a sequel but if there was, I would read it the day it came out. I would recommend it for kids because I think this book was written more for kids than adults. ( )

This started off really slow, we get a lot of background about Kevin being bullied and it is quite a while before he finds the sunglasses and the action gets started. Once it got started I enjoyed it for a while, but again it went on a bit before coming to an end. I did enjoy the end and thought it quite fitting. Having said that I am not the intended reader age, so maybe would have enjoyed it more if I had been younger, it has a good lesson about getting what you wish for and getting revenge.
