In 2005, firebrand radio talk show host Neal Boortz and Georgia congressman John Linder created The FairTax Book, presenting the American public with a bold new plan designed to eliminate federal taxes and the IRS, jump-start the U.S. economy, bring back lost industries and jobs, and recapture billions of untaxed dollars currently hoarded by criminal and offshore businesses. Their book became an immediate #1 New York Times bestseller, igniting a powerful grassroots tax reform movement that's spreading like wildfire across our nation. Now, three years later, the authors are back to answer the outspoken and misinformed critics of their innovative proposal. Offering stunning new insights not covered in the original book, FairTax: The Truth debunks the negative myths and gross misrepresentations of this groundbreaking idea. The FairTax plan is simple, brilliant, and it will work-enabling you to keep all the money in your paycheck; eliminating the fraud, hassle, and waste of our current system; and revolutionizing the way America pays for itself.… (más)

This book points out the complexity of the Federal Income Tax system, and recommends abolishing it and the entire Internal Revenue Service, and replacing it with a national sales tax. While fair on the surface, the poor will tend to be hit hardest by such a plan. However, part of the plan, lower income individuals and families will receive a "prebate" to ensure that they are able to purchase the basics without penalty. Many issues need to be resolved with the plan, but simplifying the tax code, making it fair for all, and eliminating many of the loop holes which allow many to escape taxation is a good idea. The book is a follow-up to the original Fair Tax book, and attempts to answer many questions such as 1. Will the Fair-tax be Revenue Neutral? 2. Will 23% tax be sufficient? 3. Will Employers pay the Payroll and Withholding tax to their Employees currently being deducted from their checks, or will they keep it? 4. How much will the Fair-tax Prebate cost? 5. Will the Fair-tax effect the amount of our Social Security Benefits? 6. Will we have to start Paying the Fair-tax on items not currently taxed now? 7. Will the cost of goods and services increase, because of the Fair-tax? 8. Who will the Fair-tax benefit and burden the most?

It answers all the questions critics had after the first book. Let's keep our fingers crossed that our country will move closer to this better tax system. ( )

This book is the follow up the "Fairtax Book" by Neal Boortz. It answers the critics and points out how you can answer them as well.

Good sequel book to the first (which is amazing). Answers a lot of questions in detail, and gives good statistics and such, though I must admit I don't like the sarcastic writing style. I love Boortz's show, but not the right feel for a tax plan that could turn America back into the dominant country we know it can be. ( )
