First, the illustrations on each page vividly reinforced the text of that page. For example, on page eleven of the book, the text talks about a dolphin’s blowhole and how dolphins breathe through their blowhole. The picture provided on that same page is real-life image of a dolphin, focusing on its blowhole. There is even an arrow saying ‘blowhole’ distinctly pointing to the dolphin’s blowhole. I like this because a child might know what a dolphin is, but not its features, so the picture aids in learning about their features that the book is talking about. Second, the writing is very clear, yet kept short. For example, when talking about migration the book states, “In summer, the bottlenoses swim north. There are more fish to eat there. The dolphins swim for days to reach new places to feed.” These sentences tell us what we need to know about a dolphin’s migration routine, but also keep it short because it is a children’s book. It didn’t provide an overwhelming amount of unnecessary words. Third, the book provided captions for each picture. For example, on page nineteen there is an image of dolphins jumping with the caption stating, “Groups of dolphins like to swim together.” I like this aspect because it reinforces what the picture is showing considering that, that information is not presented in the text part. I believe the big idea of this book is understanding animals and their living. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
