Thunder Point is a novel in the Sean Dillon series. Amateur diver Henry Baker goes diving in the Caribbean, when he finds the wreck of a German U-boat. Inside he finds a briefcase which he takes back home with him. On his way home he meets his friend, diver Bob Carney, and lies to him about where he's been. When he opens the briefcase he finds a list of documents in German. His inability to read German frustrates him but one name leaps out at him: Martin Bormann. The dates on the diary appear strange to Baker as they seem to indicate that the submarine sailed after the war was over.

A riveting ride that will keep you turning pages to the surprising end. The cast of characters is tight, like the writing and the plot. Irishman Sean Dillon, ex-IRA and all round Bad Boy is given what seems a suicidal task.

He has to find a brief case that leading Nazi Martin Bormann took into hiding with him. The contents of the case has information if made public would destroy the reputations of powerful people. The brief case is deep under water in a dangerous place off the Virgin Islands.

A pro-Nazi criminal, Santiago, also wants the brief case. Santiago always seems a step ahead of Dillon. But the Irish man has formidable friends. The quest for the briefcase has plenty of tense moments and twists.

Thunder Point is great escapism. Higgins's word pictures create atmosphere that takes the reader to the action, of which there's plenty.
