The first two stories are related, but the final story stands on its own. As the back cover says, "Reunited neighbors, Overlooked neighbors and New neighbors"; that it what this book is all about. In "The Key" Brendy Lane finds life suddenly moving fast when her old flame from high school walks into her coffee shop. Zeke and her have gone on with their lives, married, had children and are now both without their mates. Can they make it work this time, or will family members and work keep them apart? In "The Promise" Kent Lane, son of Brendy from the first story, has a hard time seeing what a great gal Sylvia is, who is he taking care of his two kids while his Mom is on her honeymoon. Sylvia has loved Kent from afar for a long time, so watching his kids is a dream come true. But Kent has been burnt once by love and is not ready to try again. Finally, in "The Neighbor" Allissa Carrington thought she would spend her vacation fixing up her new home, but wasn't counting on her neighbor, Brad Ratner, digging up a mystery in his backyard. The mystery begins and in this story there is a little suspense as to who murdered the body found in the backyard. Alissa and Brad seek to figure it out and end up trying to figure out their true feelings for each other too. Each story was interesting and special on its own. I enjoyed each story and liked the fact that the first two stories went together. This book contains 3 novellas. The first two are related to each other and the last one has nothing to do with the other two other than being set in Texas like the other two. The theme between the couples is repeated in all 3 novellas. The man and the woman feel attraction for each other, but fight it because of some reason in their past or current circumstances. (Putting grandchildren ahead of oneself because of feeling guilty their mother left them, Feeling that one is being unfaithful to a deceased spouse, Feeling unworthy or that one's out of God's will etc.) It's an okay theme in romance, but to have it repeated in each of the three novellas got to be noticeable and a bit predictable. The last novella did at least have a bit of suspense in it in addition to the romance. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
