Robinson looks at three thinkers who attempted to counter the consensus that Freud's views support political conservatism. An interesting exercise, probably more interesting at the time the book was written (1969) than it seems now, when both Freud and Marx seem largely irrelevant and discredited, although for different reasons. I think Robinson brings a level of intellectual engagement to the issues that could not be summoned up by a 21stC author. He makes some thought-provoking comments, in passing, on the relationship of a "leftist" understanding of Freudianism to less conservative views on human sexuality and the family. I see from Robinson's other titles that "gay studies" became a key research interest. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
