"And in the character of Ganelon Silvermane, Carter has created the Earth's last legendary hero. For Ganelon is both young and yet of great age - a genetic construct from a forgotten past designed for the role he was to fulfill - that of single-handedly holding together the fragmented nations of a shattered humanity.
"Here's the third novel, a colorful canvas confronting Ganelon and his companions with a city of illusion, with the problem of the scientific immortals, and with the disastrous collision of massive horde of the world's ultimate barbarians!"
Book 3 of the 'Gondwane epic' and Carter inspiration and enthusiasm seem to be failing him. As with the 'Green Star' series he starts off well enough but descends into derivative farce half way through.
I continued with the rest of the series but frankly found it hard going as they get worse from here. ( )
