A good legal mystery even though the lead lawyer character's name is Tubby?! ( )

Light-hearted, entertaining, formulaic reading. A dab of New Orleans, a dab of lawyering, a dab of corrupt politicians/police. A dab of murder, sex, rough language; but none too graphic. ( )

This is the 2nd Tubby Dubonnet book I have read. I enjoyed this one also although maybe not quite as much as the first. However, I shall be reading number 3. Tubby Dubonnet is a normal good hearted person who often makes a wrong choice. They are light-hearted stories with a lot of charm.. ( )

City of Beads: a Tubby Dubonnet Mystery. Tony Dunbar. 1994. I loved reading about New Orleans in this book. The author’s knowledge of the city is the best thing about this book. When he agrees to investigate the murder of a friend and, to please his daughter, he agrees to become the lawyer for her environmental group, Tubby uncovers and vast illegal dumping operation in which both the Vietnamese and the American mafia are involved. Characters are stock as is the plot. This is the second of a series and the only one I will read. ( )
