(Another book where I could use a half-star--I'd give this 3.5.) ( ) There are no words in this graphic novel. The pictures are in the vain of steam punk. They are well done in dark, earthy tones. A group composed mostly of children visit Luna Park. Luna Park looks like a boardwalk park from by-gone days much like its namesake at Coney Island. The group is taken hostage and aided by a magical pumpkin and the park's drunken clown. The lack of words is fascinating and at times confusing, but the book is beautiful. Due to the frightening scenario depicted and the presence of alcohol, this book is not for the very young. Recommended Ages: 8-13 sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Five youngsters get on a ride in Steam Park, and before they know it they're slaves in the park's creepy underground, forced to run the steam works that keep all the rides moving. Are they trapped there forever? An unexpected electrical short circuit brings to life a jack-o-lantern, a tipsy old clown, and some freaky little toys who band together to try to save the children. Author Filippo Neri and illustrator Piero Ruggeri tell this colorful, hair-raising story, perfect for late-night or Halloween reading, entirely in pictures.
