Alan and Denise Jackson's life seemed like a fairy tale: high school sweethearts marry young and leave small-town Georgia to pursue big dreams in Music City. They pay their dues, work hard, weather deep disappointments. Then their dreams come true. In fairy tales, the Jacksons' material success? plus their "perfect" marriage, their three beautiful daughters, and their supportive families? Would have signaled a happily-ever-after ending. But real life is different from fairy tales. At the pinnacle of their success, the Jacksons separated. For Alan, musical renown fame, and wealth still did not make up for the marital problems the Jacksons had struggled with for years. And for Denise, building her life around Alan and riding the tide of his success had somehow left her hollow, unsure of just who she really was. You don't have to be rich and famous to go through struggles like these. Sooner or later, we all come to the point when we realize that real joy and peace isn't just around the corner of the next achievement, the next relationship, the next new thing. That's why Alan and Denise Jackson's story isn't just a great read and a dramatic, intimate look at the golden world of celebrity. It's a story of the greatest love of all, the love that will never let you go . . . and how to find it, no matter who you are, where you live, or what you've done.… (más)

I found this book really uplifting. I thought that their story was done honestly and tastefully while being upfront about feelings, emotions, events and realities of everyday life. Marriages everywhere are going through similar situations and while those situations are just as tough, the fact that Alan was a superstar made it even more difficult I'm sure.

But I found Denise's advice very sound. As one who has been through a difficult marriage, I can honestly say that it is 'All About Him' and the real groundwork is forgiveness. Christ said to love one another be tender hearted forgiving one another as Christ has forgiven you. How could you not be forgiving and expect to be forgiven yourself. In our humaness I don't think it possible, but as Denise said through God all things are possible. Forgiveness and love are choices we make not based on feelings or performance but something we set out to do. Many marriages would be saved if they would choose to forgive instead of choose anger and bitterness. As Denise pointed out, that only hurts the offended not the offender. In her dedication she says to Alan, 'To recover something of great value after it has been lost makes me treasure it even more'. Speaking from one who has been there, that sums up how it is if you make it through the firey times.

I highly recommended this book to everyone. It it a book written straight from the heart. ( )

I just finished reading "It's All About Him" by Denise Jackson (Alan Jackson's wife). Denise and Alan had a fairy tale romance and marriage until it all fell apart. Alan moved out and Denise had to start life all over w/o him. This book has a very happy ending with D&A getting back together and with a much deeper, more commited than ever relationship. Also this is a story of spirtual growth and renewal. The book gave me a lot of insights into Alan's songs and his heartbeat for family, God and country. I loved the book. I would give it 4 stars. ( )

The "Him" that it's all about in the title isn't the author's husband, country music superstar Alan Jackson. Rather, this book is about putting God first. Denise Jackson discusses her marriage to the country superstar and the struggles that God brought them through, from their days as high school sweethearts to today. ( )
