This is a story about a boy who wants to be big enough to do all the things he wants. In the end he realizes its okay to be his size. Great for children needing to love themselves. When Little Critter get bullied at school because he is so small, he begins to brain storm as many ideas as he can so he can get bigger. He tries eating all of his vegetables, exercising, and even a growing machine, but none of them work. He confronts his grandpa about his problems and his grandpa teaches him that being big is what life is all about. This would an excellent choice for a unit about bullying. "Just Big Enough", by Mercer Mayer, is about a little boy who wants to be bigger so he can play with the big kids. He uses his parents advice by eating vegetables and exercising. He even read a comic book and made a growing machine. When he went to visit his grandparents he discovered that a small horse is sometimes faster than a bigger horse. He challenged the big kids at school in a race. He won and realized that sometimes being smaller is better. Mercer Mayer began illustrating in 1966. He has published over 300 books.
