Kinda forgot I read this before, so I read it again [I think it was included in one of his short story collections but can't remember which one].
Remembered the plot after the first paragraph but continued just to refresh my memory.

Creepy and Gaimanesque.
Could do without the image of a 6yo girl biting her father's "male member"...
Why you gotta be an edgelord Neil?

fuck this shit tho

5 stars go to the artwork alone in this dark retelling of Snow White. The story is pretty good, but the art makes the book. ( )

I remember when I first read Gaiman's short story - it was one of the first "dark" retellings of a fairy tale, and really sold it. So when I saw the graphic novel adaptations, I was surprised it hadn't happened earlier.

Dillon's art is fantastic, and well-suited. ( )

I believe that I have read this as a short story, but the original voice play format makes it far more frightening than the written words can. Something about hearing the events take place alongside the narration is infinitely more disturbing, since we can no longer skim over uncomfortable paragraphs. Thank god this hasn't been turned into a video yet... ( )

A year or so ago the children told me they were studying fairytales told from alternative points of view, and when I saw this I thought this may have been one of them. Out of interest, I started to read it and soon came to the conclusion that this was probably not among the stories read to the children who were in grade 2 at the time. However I thoroughly enjoyed this re-telling of the Snow White story, which told from the viewpoint of the stepmother and with an intended audience which would be adults, it was actually quite dark, probably more in line with the origins of most of the fairy tales. Quick read but well worth it. ( )
