Geraldine is a little piggy who was given a baby blanket and becomes very attached to it. As she grows older her mother patches and trims it until there is very little left and her parents try and convince her that it is time to give it up. But Geraldine refuses. At christmas she is given a little stuffed pig from the same aunt who had given her the blanket and her parents were hoping that would replace the blanket. To solve the problem, Geraldine decided to turn her blanket into a dress for Rosa in order to keep both.
I love this book. It is very relatable to young children because almost everyone has a favorite toy or comfort item. Inevitably adults try and convince them that it is time to out grow comfort items. This book teaches kids that it is okay to have some attachments and that there is a way for them to grow and change as they do. ( )

Geraldine recieves a blanket when she is born. She takes it everywhere. It gets tattered and torn. Her parents try to hide it, but she always finds it. In the end, Geraldine finds a way to keep her blanket.

This was one of my favorite books when I was little. It is about a little piggy who doesn't want to give her blanket up as she grows older. She gets creative and makes a dress for her doll out of the blanket, so she still gets to keep it.

Thsi was a cute book about a little girl and her beloved blanket that her aunt gave her. She found many creative uses for it and took it everywhere she went. When her parents thought she was too old for it, she found a new use for it and made her new doll clothes out of the blanket. ( )

Conservation could be a great theme to get out of this book to talk about with younger children. How did Geraldine re-use her old blanket? She made it into a dress for her new dolly. Growing up and changing is also a great theme to talk about. We don't have to change everything about us to grow up, just grow up a little bit and act appropriately. ( )
