Average ration of good stories to filler; I was expecting better. The standouts are all widely anthologized (Dahl, Matheson, Sturgeon, Stout), but two lesser-knowns are very effective- 'A Good Head for Murder' by Charles W. Runyon, and 'All The Sounds of Fear' by Harlan Ellison. 'The Invisible Cat' by Betty Ren Wright has some nice elements.
A mixed bag in terms of quality, as I've come to expect from short story collections. Some of them were quite clever, but after a while I started to anticipate the "twist" endings. I guess that's what comes of reading too many mystery tales in a row. Some standouts were the stories by Roald Dahl and Theodore Sturgeon. Not a bad read, but I probably won't pick up any more of these collections in the future. ( )
