This isn't the type of book I usually read, but I quickly found myself quite involved in the story. Fast-paced and a real nail-biter, the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. The ending was a bit abrupt. I would've liked a bit more of an epilogue to tie up the story of the main characters and their relationship that I had grown to care about. But other than that this was a very entertaining read. So many plot holes I almost fell through the book. The writing itself was excellent and the characters very well drawn but the premise was trite & the plot predictable. The set up was absolutely ridiculous as I said in my progress notes and the cops were beyond stupid. Even the main guy was an idiot. I loved his bf though and thought their relationship realistic, not love at first site I'm going to die without you. The book was very violent and graphic which might bother some. there was too much detail about each killing and had too many different POVs for my taste. I think it was good to talk about this online pickup site and talk about sex with strangers without judgment but also without glorifying it because it's realistic and a real though not talked about part of the gay male subculture. This felt like it was written by a gay man (as it was) unlike the vast majority that are written by straight women (many of my favorite stories among them so I'm not dissing them). I like to read those. The best thing about the book was that the main character said that even if there were a "cure" for being gay because there wasn't anything wrong with being gay and he liked who he was. He was then horrified that there could be something that would make him stop liking to suck cock. Awesome! 2.5 stars rounded up because the writing itself really was very good. A detective is confronted with a killer who walks around and kills gays. After an odd incident during the investigation he gets fired (wow, no check and no inquiry... just a dismissal - not very convincing) and keeps on searching for the killer. The killer even contacts him several times (whether it remains uncertain why). While hunting the killer he has a romantic encounter (jippie) with a cute guy who also gets involved. After several more killings we end up at a showdown that is still rather unconvincing. So, the whole thing is entertaining but much too illogical to make for a good (gay) detective. Skip it! Premios
The Internet is the new meat market for gay men. Now a killer is turning the meat market into a meat wagon. One by one, he's killing them. Lurking in the digital underworld of Men4HookUpNow.com, he lures, seduces, and charms, reaching out through instant messages to the unwary. When the first body surfaces, openly gay Chicago Police Department detective Ed Comparetto is called in to investigate. At the scene, the young man who discovered the body tells him the story of how he found his friend. But did this witness play a bigger role in the murder than he's letting on? For Comparetto, this encounter is the beginning of a nightmareâbecause this witness did more than just show up at the scene of the crime; he set the scene. Comparetto is on a journey to discover the truthâbefore he loses his career, his boyfriend, his sanity⦠his life. Because in this killer's world, IM doesn't stand for instant message⦠it stands for instant murder. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

Peter, Ed's lover, is rather bland, even though he is present in more than half of the book. We know more about David (Timothy's aunt's b-friend), than him. That made me feel like I was missing something.
Timothy's aunt was written beautifully, though. She is the most vivid character in the story. (
