Beautiful Illustrations by two artists celebrate this beautiful, inspiring, simple books describing My America. Ashley Brian never fails to create vibrant landscapers, full of movement and joy. ( )

Like some of the other books, my favorite part about this book is the illustrations, they are so vivid and colorful. Poetry is not something that I usually find myself interested in but, wow! The simplicity, but importance of the story is unreal. This book shows the diversity and beauty of the Americas with so few words. I read through this book multiple times, a few times admiring the pictures and taking it all it. Sometimes, reading the words, loving them, and thinking about their meaning. Loved this! ( )

America is a and for ALL people, and this book reinforces that message. In poetry style, Gilchrist asks the question: “Have you seen my America?” America is mighty and beautiful, not just our lands, but our people too. We have such a diverse country, and it is beautiful! America is made up of many different people; we are in unity, and that is beautiful.

The illustrations in this book were colorful. The pictures had realistic features, but also had a whimsical feel to them. People of all different ethnicities were depicted in the pictures. ( )

With just a very few words, the message here is so deep. This book is a written in all questions. The first question asked is "Have you seen my country?" This answer can change so quickly depending on who one is asking. This question could mean so many things. To me, seeing America would be seeing our sunrises and sunsets, seeing our freedoms everyday, and seeing our different cultures. Seeing "my" America may be completely opposite than seeing some one else's interpretation. That is why is book is so powerful. We all live in the same place yet we see and experience it so differently. ( )

This truly is a beautiful book! Jan Spivey Gilchrist and Ashley Bryan do a great job of displaying how diverse America is. Not only among people, but sea creatures, land, birds, and land animals as well. This book reminds readers how beautiful our mixed country really is! The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and add so much to the book. They are colorful, meaningful, and a pleasure to look at! My personal favorite is the last spread where all kinds of different people are standing together and holding hands. This illustration really speaks to me and exemplifies how beautiful it is when we all stand together as one and make up our country. ( )
