This book is centered on Hamish, a third grader who can't read but is a brilliant storyteller and artist. Through the encouragement of his family and teacher, the reluctant Hamish finally learns how to read with the help of his big brother. I don't think I could use this in a teaching lesson but I think students would be entertained by Hamish and his creative ways to not read. ( )

it was an okay book not one that I would use for teaching, however I would probably recommend it to a child to read. ( )

Although he is a great storyteller and good at art, Hamish cannot read, even with remedial classes, but his brother Nathan finally comes up with a way to teach him.
