In this book, we meet Maddog, a veteran who ends up in trouble trying to do the right thing. He's had a hard time with PTSD since leaving the service and if it wasn't for his service dog Kane he wouldn't have made it. The bond between them is the definition of a man's best friend. When Maddog saves Lark from Angel Mackenzie he takes her to Patroit in Tonopah for help. What he didn't know was that Lark was with Angel for a reason. She's been undercover working with her FBI brother Torin for the past year trying to find their little sister Molly who was sold by their dad Fred. Maddog makes the decision to join the MC and take the Devil's Ride after Kane is hurt trying to protect Lark. Except things don't go as planned when Lucifer shows up. Maddog isn't meant to be a reaper in the Tonopah chapter. Lucifer has other plans for him and he's going to be the president of the new Las Vegas chapter and as a gift, he will be bonded with Kane's spirit so he's always with him. Maddog is even given a list of names of who to recruit for his officers. Will Lark ever find Molly? Can Maddog and Lark make this new transition together?
I gave this a 5-star rating and a 3-spicy rating. I think of this book as a gateway book bringing us a new chapter of the Royal Bastards MC, introducing us to the Feral Rebels MC, and adding in the Devil's Murder MC. With trouble still heading their way this book opened the door for multiple storylines and I can't wait to read them. We've gotten reapers, animal spirits - crows, shifters, shadow riders, hellhounds……what's next?
