It starts with how the lake was financed and created 1st then continues with little bits of information about how the refuge was run, the issues it has had, and it's history in general. It does also cover some on conservation in the area. The book is written in a form that I would compare to bullet comment form. But if you know the area it is an interesting book. President Theodore Roosevelt established Deer Flat as a National Refuge in 1909. Located in southwestern Idaho, Deer Flat consists of over 10,000 acres and includes 101 islands in the nearby Snake River. The refuge is a sanctuary for a variety of wildlife especially migratory birds. The man made reservoir provides for recreational opportunities as well as supplying water to irrigate thousands of acres of farmland in Idaho and Oregon.
