This work covers the year 1000 to 1500 dividing the periods into 100 year chunks. In each section matters of politics, culture, art, religion and architecture are covered. The book does a good job of treating the world as a whole rather than merely focusing on Europe. By this method one gains an appreciation of the interrelationship between Europe and Asia. American developments are also included although there is little attempt to show relationship. ( )
