When the leaves turn and the geese fly south, little hippo Fiona is worried about the changes. Her mama hippo and her other friends at the zoo reassure her that change is okay - every season is different, and spring and summer will come again. Fiona remembers a big change, when her little brother was born, and that turned out (mostly) okay. She draws pictures of herself to give to all her friends, and in return they write her letters to last through the winter.

Reminded me a bit of the way Katherine Applegate's characters in the The One and Only..series roam around their zoo visiting each other. ( )

Whether it’s moving to a new home, city, or school or anticipating a new baby, kids (like adults 😉 ) can be anxious about change. In You’ve Got This, Fiona, Fiona the hippo is anxious about the changes taking place around her. Seasons come and go, and she is worried she will be forgotten by her friends. I loved how all the animals in the zoo banded together to make sure Fiona’s fears were alleviated. My granddaughter loves Fiona books. She is pretty insistent on me reading them to her over and over when she visits. LOL. And I know she is going to love this one as well. She is facing some big changes in the coming months, and I think her favorite hippopotamus will be a big help in facing those changes. The book is one you would expect from a Fiona book — colorful and detailed illustrations and easy to understand, yet meaningful prose. You and your child will love it too!

Oh, I LOVE Fiona! Adorable Fiona that we love to watch from the Cincinnati Zoo, learns about change and how to cope. The seasons are changing and Fiona's friends are leaving to fly south. The Fiona hippo books are fun. I have missed a few so now she has a brother and she’s learning about seasons. As the seasons change some of her friends will hibernate, some will search for warmer climates, etc. but change can have a good side. Fiona just needs to learn that and learn that her friends will always be there. As always, the artwork is lovely and the stories a little long but works very well. ( )
