Suspense. Thriller. Young Adult Fiction. Young Adult Literature. HTML:??Our new favorite thriller.? ?? COSMOPOLITAN

A glitzy YA thriller set in New York City elite social circles, filled with backstabbing and blackmail, twisty secrets, and a dead body, from New York Times bestselling author Jessica Goodman.
Perfect for fans of Euphoria, Holly Jackson, and Jessica Knoll.

Old money. New secrets. One killer party.
Scoring an invitation for membership to the exclusive Legacy Club in New York City is more than an honor. It gives you a lifetime of access to power and wealth beyond any prep school doors and guaranteed safety and security as Legacy Club members always look out for their own. That is, after you make it through a rigorous week of events and the extravagant gala, the Legacy Ball.
So it??s not surprising when Excelsior Prep seniors Bernie Kaplan, Isobel Rothcroft, and Skyler Hawkins are nominated as Legacies; their family pedigrees have assured their membership since birth??even if they're all keeping secrets that could destroy their reputations. But scholarship kid from Queens Tori Tasso? She??s a surprise nominee, someone no one saw coming. Tori??s never fit in this world of designer bags, penthouse apartments, and million-dollar donations. So what did she do to secure her place?
The night of the Legacy Ball is supposed to be the best night of these seniors?? lives, a night of haute couture, endless champagne, and plenty of hushed gossip.
Everyone expects a night of luxury and excess.
No one expects their secrets to come out.
Or for someone to die trying to keep them hidden.
"Thrilling and unputdownable. This is Jessica Goodman??s best work yet." ?? Diana Urban, author of

It's hard to review this book because my thoughts conflict about it. There was drama throughout the book, but it still felt like nothing was happening. I think this might be due to not liking the characters. There were only a few moments during the whole book when I actually liked them. I think that's why I didn't care for the book. Their personalities annoyed me. The all seemed selfish, even during the moments when they were supposed to be selfless. The drama also wasn't compelling.

By the time I got to the end, I was just waiting for the story to wrap up. I also felt like it was all dealt with too easily. Like suddenly everything is all right, and there is nothing to worry about. It just doesn't sit right with me.

Even with all of that, I still thought the book was okay. There was a lot of language, which I didn't care for, however, I do think it fit the characters personalities to speak like that. It just made up a lot of the book. Am I glad I read it? Not really. Am I angry I spent time reading it? Also no. I really don't know if the good outweigh the bad. I guess if the book sounds like your thing, I would recommend giving it a try. However, if you aren't sure if you would like it or not, I would recommend skipping it.

I don't feel a need to check out any other books from this author. The way this one was written I enjoyed, but the content of the book and how certain things worked out, just didn't work for me. ( )

Jessica Goodman is a master of YA thrillers set in the world of east coast wealth and privilege and The Legacies continues her winning streak. The Legacy Club in New York City draws six members a year from the senior classes of the most elite private high schools. Admission to this secretive club is coveted as the members have influence, connections and power. The story takes place over a week, alternating between the night of the glamourous Legacy Ball, where a body has been discovered, and the events following the announcement of the selected students. There are three points of view: Bernie and Isobel, two privileged girls, and Tori, a scholarship student and outsider, all who have been selected for the Legacy Club.
As Legacy Week progresses, secrets both old and new are uncovered and motives are revealed. The alternating points of view add to the suspense and plot development. The Legacies is a fast-paced novel, twisty, entertaining and hard to put down. Thank you to BookishFirst for a copy to review. ( )

My thanks to NetGalley and Razorbill for my e-ARC.

Excelsior Prep, an exclusive school with students and alumni from the crème de la crème of society. The Legacy Club, where the privileged network and make valuable connections. A coveted prize. And…a murder? At THE event, The Legacy Ball, the culmination of a week of activities for the chosen : students from elite prep schools.

So many suspects. So many motives. Secrets. Lies. Deception. Anybody could be the culprit.

From outward appearances, these students and their families have it all. Their lives are perfect. But nothing could be further from the truth.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Everything from the genre(dark academia), setting(New York’s upper class), plot, characters(that they are unlikable makes them all the more intriguing), and alternating points of view appealed to me. Also, it kept me guessing. ( )
