I will buy that this is an indispensable resource for scholars, as the back cover claims. But don't buy this book expecting it to be interesting. For comparison, I found Joshi's bibliography of Lovecraft to be a great read, and consider Hobbled Pegasus: a descriptive bibliography of minor English poetry, 1641-1660 to be comfort reading. But this offers no description; each entry is merely author, title and publication data, followed by a list of Mythos entities to be found in the work. There's no description, no mark or separation of major works from works of no impact, little noted and long forgotten. It's sorted by author, with indexes by Mythos element and title; frustratingly, there's no index by year, so there's no way, besides a hand-collation, to get any sense of the historical pattern here. It also doesn't offer a currently available source for any of the listed material. It's not a pleasure to work with; it may be a useful tool for some, but I suspect that's a pretty limited group of serious scholars. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
