Jigsaw is a legacy child that was born to become a Bastard. When Abby was young she moved in across the street from Jigsaw and became best friends with his cousin Heather. Abby knew she loved Jigsaw since she met him and they finally got their chance. Due to trouble with club enemies, Abby was hurt and her father saw the opportunity to keep her and Jigsaw apart and took it. Abby kept a secret from Jigsaw though after being hurt by him abandoning her. She grew up to be the reporter she dreamed of being and Jigsaw followed her career the whole way. Abby starts investigating a story that the Royal Bastards have something to do with and she chooses to help them, giving them information they need. It gets Abby in a world of trouble and when Jigsaw finds out she's missing he's determined to find her. Everyone's secrets come out after that and they all realize they never knew the bigger picture with the forces that were working against them. But Jigsaw's Reaper has claimed his family and he's never letting them go again.
I gave this a 4-star rating and a 3-spicy rating because I loved where this book took us in the series story. Nikki hasn't stopped being able to throw twists and surprises in it that we didn't expect. Making the story coincide with the Devil's Murder MC series especially Hawk's book is a bonus for me. I really enjoy the way Nikki writes her characters with their paranormal perks in a way that doesn't dehumanize them. They (minus Azrael and Diablo - duh face paint!) could be your everyday human with their personalities that you'd never automatically assume they were different than anyone else in the world. To me, it's what makes this series so awesome! I can't wait to see what's next to come.
