Contained within this anthology are dark stories and works of art that explore the shadow side of reality. They are disturbed works that journey hopelessly through the downtrodden fringes of society, across the deepest reaches of space, and into the darkest, most troubled corners of the mind. Enter if you must, but beware. The inaugural issue of Dark Matter Magazine boasts eight original dark science fiction stories, one story in the original Spanish, one reprint story by a comic book star, an essay on the state of modern scientific ethics, three art features, and two dozen illustrations in full color and black and white. -- Finishers by Christi Nogle - 4* - I loved it. Futuristic story where we meet a mother and daughter who "finish" detailing humanoid robots. The girl attends school virtually by entering a physical avatar far from where she is. This is the only life she's known but her mother has seen the before, the real world. Can't wait to come across more stories by Christi.
-- Tripping Through Time by Rich Larson - I didn't love this one. Futuristic but our MC works at a place that recreates past events in time. A guest breaks through a protective force field on purpose, the MCs mother is very sick with a virus, the MC redoes what the bad guest does. I couldn't really understand this one.
