Neal Shusterman is always an interesting author because his books are all so different yet are usually of the science fiction genre. His writing partner from a previous trilogy, Eric Elfman joins him to write this humorous novel.

Noah lives a pretty typical teenage life: parents, sister, best friend who is a bit weird, and a girl for whom he has a crush. Strange things happen to Noah that don't make sense. He arrives at school really quickly one day and doesn't really know how he got there. He drops to the floor when the hallway is busy and he's jostled. He performs an odd "dance" for the girl he likes in front of everyone during a dance when his body takes over. He best friend, Ogden figures out what's happening: Noah takes on animal characteristics. To test his hypothesis, Ogden plans an experiment. Unfortunately, Saraha happens to be there as well and witnesses everything. Once the three of them determine that Noah has this strange ability, the roof exploded. Now, they know why Noah is the way he is, and Noah's sister reveals the secrets that she knows as she thinks they need to know them.

I am the Walrus is a humorous story about 3 friends in a ridiculous situation. There are over the top characters who serve up the humor as well. ( )
