In this story Miss spider falls in love with Holley a little spider who no one thinks is good enough for Miss Spider. But despite this she chooses him and they are the perfect pair. Before she knows it the other bugs are trying to set her up with the "perfect" spider. He turns out to be cruel and tries to eat Holley the man she loves, but she comes to the rescue in the end. Holley and Miss Spider end up married and in love despite what others think. I liked this book for three main reasons. First, I liked how the illustrations were all bright and colorful with no white spaces on each page. For example, the only white space throughout the story was on the pages that the author used to tell the story on. That made the reader realize when the author was going to start telling the story again, aside from the illustrations. Second, I liked how there was a lot of dialogue throughout the story with different characters communicating to each other, rather than the author just telling the story of what happened to the reader. For example, there was a ton of dialogue located throughout the story, but I love how the beginning of the story the author started out with the following dialogue “Good Morning, Miss! A lovely day.” Third, I liked how the author had one page and the illustrator had its own page with only overlapping a few times with words and pictures located on the same page. The big idea of this story was to follow your heart for who you love, and do not let other people’s opinions get in your way. Miss Spider meets another spider named Holley and falls in love with him. Her disapproving friend then goes to find a better suitor and meets Spiderus Reeves, who ends up hatching an evil plan. After Miss Spider saves her friends from Spiderus, she and Holley marry while surrounded by all their bug friends. Miss Spider falls in love with someone whom her friend doesn't approve, so she sets out to find Miss Spider a new boyfriend. She choses Spiderus Reeves, who is only interested in Miss Spider for her money. Because of this he tries to kill Miss Spider's current boyfriend, Holley. Miss Spider stops him and eventually marries Holley. This enchanting tale is the story of the meeting, the courtship, and the wedding of Miss Spider and Holley Spider. As the story unfolds, young readers will meet the friends of the couple and will help them prepare for their special day. Delightful illustrations depicting the world of Miss Spider and Holley Spider accompany the narrative, written in verse, of this pleasant children’s story.
