Wesley is so busy running his family's Amish market during the holidays, he barely has time for Liesl, the young woman he's been courting for years. When she suggests her aunt Jenny could help Wesley out, he agrees to the plan. But Liesl neglected to mention her aunt is only twenty-six years old, and as charming as she is hard-working. Jenny, still healing after a painful breakup, welcomes the distraction of working at the market. She soon realizes Wesley is everything she ever dreamed a man could be. But how can Jenny even think about romance with the man Liesl expects to marry? But Liesl's own feelings are more complicated than she's willing to admit. I loved listening to this audiobook. I loved the narrator that read the story. I felt that she did a wonderful job voicing each character. I loved Jenny, Wesley and Liesl. I loved the sweet romance and the troubles that each character had to work through. I received a copy of this audiobook from Netgalley for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. Christmas at the Amish Market by Shelley Shepard Gray is a heartwarming tale. I was immediately drawn into the story. I like the author’s engaging writing style. It is friendly and casual. I enjoyed getting to know Wesley, Liesl, Jenny, Roland, and little Lilly. It does take time to like Liesl (if you look up self-centered in the dictionary, you will see a picture of her). Wesley and Liesl have been courting for some time. Liesl believes Wesley is the right man for her and is hoping he will propose at Christmas. Wesley has not had much time to spend with Liesl since his father has his heart attack. Wesley wants to make sure the market is a success in his father’s absence. One man cannot run a bustling market on his own. Liesl asks her Aunt Jenny who is only a couple of years older than Liesl to come work at the market. When Liesl is not working, she is helping widower Roland and his daughter, Lilly. As you can tell, It is going to be an eventful December for this group. I enjoyed the descriptions of the Pinery Christmas event. It is a place I would love to visit during the holiday season. I like how everything tied together and the ending left me smiling. There is drama, romance, humor, faith, and Christmas spirit in this entertaining story. Christmas at the Amish Market is cheery Christmas tale with a demanding market, long lines, a darling Lilly, courting difficulties, an attractive aunt, tempting mistletoe, and a happy holiday. ( )

Because of his father’s heart attack, Wesley is running his family’s Amish market. His long-time girl friend, Liesl, thinks he is spending too much time at the store and not enough with her. Her solution is to persuade her aunt to work for Wesley during her busy month of December. He is surprised that the aunt turns out to be a young, unmarried woman his own age. He is even more surprised to discover that he likes her more than he really should. Meanwhile, Liesl is helping a widower, Roland, with his young daughter. She likes being around Lilly very much, as well as being around Roland. How all this works out is quite interesting. No one wants to be the the first to declare the truths that are quite obvious. It’s a lovely and heart-warming Christmas tale, with well-developed characters. The smartest one in the story is Emma, Liesl’s sister, who has a very small role but critical role in the tale. Included at the end is a recipe for Cincinnati-Style Chili, which most of the people in the story don’t appear to enjoy, but really sounds very tasty. ( )

This is a Hallmark read, a good clean book, although it was predictable from the beginning, at least for me, the journey to the end is enjoyable.
You will probably guess how this is going to turn out, but there are a few twists, and will make you maybe second guess yourself.
I would have loved to go to the Pinery Christmas event, the place sounds magical! We get to see our couples as they interact, but who ends up with whom, even here at this amazing display of secular Christmas displays and lights, including a tree maze!
This read will put you in the holiday spirit! Enjoy!
I received this book through Net Galley and Hallmark Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )
