This realistic fiction follows the "Cinnamon Lake Club" through its last few summer meetings. All summer the four kids that make up the club have tried to do things such as lemonade stands or pizza sales, but their plans are always foiled by a set of brothers who call themselves "Vultures." The kids decide to plan one last great scheme to mark the end of the summer; as they are sitting in their tree by the lake, one of the kids thinks of the greatest last hurrah ever - the Secret Society of the Left Hand. He had heard a Bible verse from his grandma about not letting your right hand know what your left hand is doing which means to keep your good deeds secret from everyone else. Although the main character (Molly) was having trouble figuring out her kind deed, her friends wasted no time in figuring out theirs. Dirt - the smallest of the group - cleaned up a whole trailer park compound and didn't let anyone know what she had done, so the people who lived there deemed it a miracle. Haley - Dirt's older sister - needed Molly's help for her project which was cleaning out Dirt's catastrophic closet not only for her sake, but for that of their mothers as well. When their mom gets home and realizes what has been done she attacks Dirt with a giant, smothering hug. Haley is a bit upset due to the fact that Dirt is now "mother's little pet," but Molly is able to calm her down. Throughout this time, the Vultures have been hinting at the fact that they know about what the plan is. Quentin still has his project to do, which is planting flowers around all of the stop signs in their town, but he doesn't want the Vultures to ruin his plans, so the two find a way to keep the boys distracted. Molly finally figures out how the Vultures are getting all of their information; the lake was displacing the sound so that it carried all the way over over to the other side of the lake! Therefore, the two friends hatch a plan of distraction. They stand by the lake when they know that the boys are there and talk about teaching them a lesson for their act of kindness by TP-ing the boys' boat. By the time Quentin has finished his project, Molly has distracted the boys enough to throw them off his scent. Through her kindness towards the youngest Vulture, Ben eventually decides to become friends with the Cinnamon Lake club. Molly is even able to share a bit about Jesus with him before the end of the summer. ( ) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
