I chuckled out loud a couple of times. I wish the character of the hero had been developed a bit more. We were told that he was paranoid and a great drama queen but didn't really see that acted out much to set the stage for how he dithered during the course of the book. But on the whole it was fun to read about a guy who wasn't so sure of himself in every instance. I liked the heroine also. There were a couple of spots where what was going on was sort of unclear. Like things that happened in another book that you were assumed to have already read. But then again there were a couple of things that I thought could not possibly have happened in another book that we were just supposed to know what was going on. Those were minor issues and I just let them slide off my back since they didn't really impact the story.

Just as a matter of interest, this book takes place in Washington state but I could tell it wasn't written by an American because of some word choices. For example the hero kept wearing a vest when he worked out. I'm assuming the author meant a sleeveless t shirt. To Americans a vest is a "close-fitting, waist-length, sleeveless garment that buttons down the front, designed to be worn under a jacket." Like you'd wear to a wedding. There were other word choices that also showed the author wasn't American. Turns out she's from South Africa. So I'm not saying it's a bad thing or that it somehow makes the book bad. Just that as a person who has a degree in English it is fun for me to notice these things.

But I digress. I liked the book. I recommend it for anyone wanting a fun couple of hours. ( )
