Especially liked: Parting the Waters, Fever Dream, Thought Upon Waking, Death is Intended, why are your poems so dark? ( )

A lovely collection of poetry on a variety subjects from marriage and the seasons to 9/11 and Abu Grahrib. I love when poets are able to condense their thoughts and use language both adroitly and sparingly, Pastan does this. Overall, there was a sense of the poet growing older, in both inward and outward reflections. This is not a review, nor a recommendation, per se, but my responses to this collection. ( )
