A cute and not-entirely-predictable story about a little bunny giving up her Blankie. Pretty but not precious illustrations reward careful attention (see butterflies, snails, etc. around the edges).

One reader was frustrated by the library plastic cover protecting the book's jacket - the bunny and blanket on the jacket are fuzzy. :-) ( )

“I’m Big Enough” is a little story written by Amber Stewart and illustrated by Layn Marlow about a young rabbit with blanket issues. In “I’m Big Enough” a rabbit named Bean loses her most favorite blanket that she never went anywhere without. However in the process of losing her blanket she realizes that some childhood things need to be grown out of and passed along to others who need them, like a baby fox.

“I’m Big Enough” is a nice story to read to a child who is going threw a stage where they are a little to big to be doing something like sucking there thumb, using a pacifier, drinking from a bottle or maybe sleeping with mommy and daddy like in the case with my daughter. “I’m Big Enough” is a story that is intended to be read to a child but is also not so complex that a child may be able to read given some reading experience. I did not really understand the title though, at first you identify with why its called “I’m big Enough” because the first few pages keeps saying all the things Bean is big enough to do, but after that nothing else is said about the matter and the story still had about sixteen more pages. This is probably not something anyone else would agree with but I thought it caused the story to be unorganized, just a little. However the illustrations were gorgeous. The little rabbits made me think so much of the works from Beatrix Potter. These illustrations make the story very comfy and appealing.

One extension in the classroom would be to have a discussion with the children about some of the things they gave up because they were too big, it would be fun to learn all of the different things fellow classmates and the teacher cherished as children. I would also love the idea of an arts and craft project where the classroom all brought stuff from home and with the help from the teacher made a class blanket. ( )
