A book filled with an abundance of medical knowledge and wisdom and practical science but also with wonder and magic. It covers with richness, how people bond during difficult times. The audio reader was very pleasant with crisp pronunciation, making her easy to understand and listen to. A fascination twist on a post-apocalyptic world! I don’t appreciate the Descriptions in the book. Someone is described as having Brains boobs and butt. Plus she’s sweeter than agave nectar and ain’t aware of any of. Any woman with boobs and butt knows she has boobs and butt. Eyes not the typical muddy hazel id seen in other faces. Seriously I think this is insulting but trying to be complimentary. We clicked into friendship the way childrens blocks fastened together ugh. Dialog “I’m sure you’re right. As always.” Said with sincerity. By a woman to a man of course. You can’t be good health care worker if you become emotionally attached easily to a sick stranger as the main character does. Description of violence “a looming storm about to break” doesn’t work for me. I did not enjoy this random collection of annoying descriptions. I really enjoyed this book. As an early reviewer sometimes you don't expect much, as in my last two books, but this book was very good! While set in the future, it has the feel of an old western to it. I felt it was very well written and gave more details and characterizations then your typical young adult book. I also liked that the author chose a world that isn't commonly written about in this genre. it felt new and fresh. It was an adventure novel with a touch of magic realism and just a kiss of some sexual tension. The author's medical background also made an appearance in some of her descriptions in the latter half of the book. I will keep my eye out for the second in this series!

Blood and Wonder was a great introduction to what I hope will be a continued series. I enjoyed the plot, and it was a leisurely read that had some easy to like characters. My largest concern with this book was the lack of world building. It wasn't until almost 200 pages in that we got any hint of the events that lead to the regression in medical knowledge, and it was only a paragraph long. What's more, that same paragraph actually opened more questions than it answered. Some pretty strong and serious implications were made and then never addressed again. As someone in the medical field myself, I appreciated that medical descriptions and thought processes used by the characters, and I really enjoyed how the writing style changed between characters. But in order to take this book from good to great, I think there needs to be a lot more background and world building provided. The ending also felt cut short, but I can understand that given that there are more books coming - books that I will happily read once published! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
