Her beautiful characters are broken, her plot is fascinating, and her outcome is satisfying. The perfect title prepares one for the faith-based relationships this story proposes; one person helping another up from the situation they find themself in. Ms. Deese tackles the problem of teen pregnancy with grace, humility, and love. This novel will still be impactful long after reading it. Wow! I just finished this book, my first by this author. It won’t be my last, because she’s a fantastic writer. I’ve been seeing this book and some others by her, but the covers made me think it would be some silly little romance novel. Boy, was I wrong! This book was totally amazing. I was caught up in the story from the beginning but about halfway through it took me on a totally different journey and it touched my soul. The characters were so real and the story was one that should be read by everyone. This is a Christian fiction novel and it’s not the least bit preachy. It’s just a beautiful story of how Christians live in this broken world and how life can either tear us down or we can let go and let Jesus pull us up to heights only He can send us to. This is a stand alone book, but I found out halfway through that some minor characters in this book were the main characters in the previous book, All That Really Matters. I can’t wait to read it! All That it Takes is a follow up to All that Really Matters which released last year. I enjoyed meeting Val and Miles in that book and looked forward to getting to know them better. Val, a single mom, upends her life by packing up and moving across the country to start a new chapter by working closer with Molly, her best friend. Little does she know, she will end up renting from Molly's brother, Miles and sparks will fly. This is my one warning for the book. If you are looking for a light and fluffy read, this is not it. Nicole Deese is a master at writing very complex characters facing some tough issues in their lives. I won't say much for fear of giving too much away, but this book deals with some pretty deep issues. They are handled well and the faith thread is always woven so beautifully through her books. You can definitely read this as a standalone, but I believe you would be missing out if you don't also read All That Really Matters as well. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
