Memory plays tricks. I thought I had read this but I hadn't. In simple words and pictures, some reflecting the grey misery style of Steinlen in his depiction of World War 1, Briggs denounces Thatcher and the devastation and loss of life caused by the Falklands War. The generic themes of the folly of war and the megolamania of power are clear for all to see, clearer to adults perhaps than children. ( )
