Flames rise as a witch is burned at the stake. Nightmares plague Geralt's sight as he sees the burned witch appear before him, bringing an ominous warning-is there more to her message than meets the eye? A wealthy landlord enlists Geralt's help in the search for his missing daughter, but this is far from a rescue mission-something is haunting Geralt, something from within, something he can't escape . . . Witch's Lament has a change in art style from previous books that looks chunky, aggressive, and scratched into the pages. It's rough and has a little less detail but it does a great job at conveying the nightmarish mood of the story and leaves room for your imagination to find more horror within it. It's very effective at conveying Geralt's state of mind throughout the story and the panel work is excellent at shepherding your eyes along the page. The story itself is worthy of sitting in the Witcher canon and I won't spoil any of it. ( )
