My husband killed me. Instead of spending my immortal afterlife pissed off and angry, I moved on. I became someone. Sure, that someone was a demon with the highest track record of reform, a.k.a. punishment, in Hell. But who's bragging? I'm right on my way to retirement behind the pearly gates. Everything was going fine...until the Risk Witches saw a terrible vision. Three men. Each scarred in their own way, born with powers that haven't been seen in eons. Upper management sent the best to correct their path. Angels. Poltergeists. Nothing worked. These men were too stubborn. Too bad. Too untamed.... So they sent me. Roman. Ezra. Dorian. Combined, they have enough power to end the world-and they will. Unless I find a way to stop them first. Breaking people is my job. But this time...my job might break me. Author's Note: This is a completed adult paranormal romance series with multiple love interests and some dark elements. If you don't like strong but flawed women and alphahole heroes that need to learn a thing or two about boundaries-this book is not for you. If you love works by Tate James, Ivy Asher, Raven Kennedy, Joely Sue Burkhart, and Kristy Cunning, then dive right in to the afterlife. It'll be one hell of a ride.… (más)

This was such a fun and entertaining read! :D

Worldbuilding:
Yes, there is an Afterlife (the angels and demons), though normal humans and supes (the vamps, shifters, witches and fae) can't know about it.
The story is set in present-day Houston (which apparently in July is pretty damn humid) and has a very urban fantasy vibe.
We learned alongside Fury how everything is run in the present day and a few things here and there about each of the supernatural races.
All scenes were well detailed and described, even when we moved around a lot and had to acclimate to new environments fast.

Character development:
I think many people will either love or hate Fury. Lucky for me, I absolutely love her. She has great humour, knows when to compromise and when enough is enough. She could be my alter ego (if my alter ego was a 'kicking ass and taking names' demon). While she is absolutely not a damsel in distress, she knows when to ask for help, except from Hades :D She really doesn't like Hades...
Talking about Hades... Kel, Aurelia, please point me to the nearest location/witch where I can get my own? Thank you! ;)
The men, Roman, Ezra and Dorian are so very different, with each their own tragic pasts that very much colours how they treat Fury (with some very entertaining situations as result). We don't know super much about them (yet), but they are well fleshed out and feel real and believable.
Side characters are well thought out and aren't just fillers, they all have a part to play and as such have meaning.

Pacing and flow:
Well, I read it in one go :D
A lot happened, yes, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Great balance between all the conversations and the action to keep the story moving forward.

The book:
The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) errors. And yes, there is sex described (if that is important to you).
The book is 420 pages long, spread over 43 chapters and is told from different points of view (Fury, Roman, Ezra and Dorian).

Final thoughts:
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and all in all I really liked it. It was a fun and entertaining read, I pretty much devoured it haha.
I actually liked it a lot that the emphasis wasn't on the men, but on completing Fury's mission. There is romance, I mean, it's a reverse harem what did you expect, but it just felt like the focus was on Fury. ( )

Just another bad RH.
There is the classic attempt to have supposedly morally grey protagonists you'll find in most Kel Carpenter books but it's so transparent and unbelievable that she might as well not have bothered at all. As soon as the actual plot of the story gets its ass off the ground the protagonists transform into annoying goodie-two-shoes that just do something questionable every now and then in a very obvious attempt at maintaining the moral grey facade but they are in fact bound by very strict moral guidelines which frequently box them in.
It's yet another trite good daemon MC against bad angels plot that mostly serves as a backdrop to spice up the entirely unoriginal RH.
The entire plot hook is absurd and makes very little sense from the very start (and muh prophecy).
The only good thing I can say is that the 3 guys are distinct and different from each other.
And while the sexual tension is laid on way too thick from the very beginning, it's at least generally done well.
While the sex is passionate enough it's surprisingly vanilla considering that she is a century-old daemon that is fucking an even older vampire, werewolf, and fae.
Further in, the book becomes almost entirely focused on the sexual relationships and while the guys accept the polyamorous relationship without grumbling overall, they nonetheless constantly compete for the MC's attention which I found quite tiresome. She basically alternates between them and shags each guy separately at their separate homes. They are not the classic thick as thieves life-long friends that live together and have shared women previously as you find in most other RH.

This is nothing more than a cash-in on "sex sells". It's by far not the worst of the lot but it doesn't deliver anything original either. ( )
