I really enjoyed reading this book. So many books I've read are about the horrible things people lived through under the communists. This book is interviews with 45 different women that have positive stories to share. They are educated and most hold important positions in China. It is interesting to note that almost all of these women have several children and most are party members. Although these women were hand-picked by the government to be interviewed, I do believe most of them are happy. The one child policy and infant abandonment are mentioned frequently. One striking similarity with the women is there view of leaving the past in the past and moving on with life. Worth a read if you are interested in stories from those that suffered less during the cultural revolution. ( )
