This review should have been a part of early reviewers. Unfortunately the publisher would not provide a copy of the book that was not web-based. This online-only and clunky pdf format made it difficult to access and disengaging as reader. There could be good stuff here, but too many barriers are in place to truly know.Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Walsh’s “HR Analytics Essentials” illustrates the importance of strong HR practices as a driver of successful business. A seemingly simple question, “How do we recruit quality employees?”, quickly unfolds into a series of examinations into sourcing practices, salary and incentive benchmarking, investing in training, retention and turnover, and other nuanced challenges in managing a workforce. This text is a great foundation into the HR Analytics space and would be immediately relevant for someone interested in people analytics or applied analytics. Anyone with influence in hiring decisions – HR or otherwise – would also find value here. Additional Content: I found the case studies and discussion questions thoughtful. The excel exercises were relevant and outline some good functions/skills to know for this type of work. Esta reseña ha sido escrita por los Primeros Reseñadores de LibraryThing. Library Thing Early Review copy provided) This is a good survey textbook for introduction of the basics of Human Resources, statistics, and data analytics. The writing is clear and understandable and logically walks through the process of understanding HR concepts and how to use statistics and data analytics to evaluate and support decision making. As a survey of these areas, the coverage is very broad (appropriate for novices in HR and data analytics) and not very deep (but provides a valuable starting point for more specialized learning). I can see that this book would be very appropriate for a college class with a knowledgeable professor. Covers concepts and provides data for application. Online resources include 2 Excel spreadsheets with about 500 rows of data for exercises (I was never able to find the promised online instructional videos in Appendix A - something the publisher website needs to provide to match the book).NOTE: This book is listed several times in LibraryThing ... by the publisher and by the author as separate listings. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
"Each day, Human Resrouces [sic] professionals face myriad issues with employees and the organizations that they support. Many times, these professionals rely on their intuition, "gut instincts" and years of experience to create resolutions and interventions to solve these issues. Although done with good intentions, these interventions often lack analytical rigor and forethought about unintended consequences and the root cause of the issue. Human Resources Analytics Essentials You Always Wanted to Know will allow readers the opportunity to learn real-world analytics techniques and critical thinking skills that can be used in any industry. Written like a field guide or handbook, readers will learn by practicing their new skills though case studies and online tutorials. This book not only teaches the theory behind some of the most powerful analytical tools in HR, but practical application as well. Starting with a self-assessment, readers immediately gain insight into potential next steps and practical ways to apply their knowledge and skills. Whether a novice or seasoned professional, Human Resources Analytics Essentials You Always Wanted to Know will help you progress in your analytics journey"-- No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
