I had a hard time giving this book one star. It's outdated (by copy was written in 1992), with poor illustrations, lackluster facts, and no biography. I'm not sure it's possible to make Amelia Earhart's life sound more boring. The "one star" status exists only because the simple facts it does present do appear to be accurate (when checked against other sources), and they are written in accessible (if boring) language for younger readers. I'm actually going to read this book with Burleigh's "Night Flight" and ask students to assess why they prefer one book over the other (in short, they will critically assess why this book is SO bad!). Sadly, this is the only book on Amelia Earhart that I could find at my school library. ( )
