The story is SF, horror and humor. Things start off reasonably enough for the cyborgs but the engineer finds a new passion that turns into quite the horror show. I'm sure there is some deeper meaning that is above my head ("I've seen reviews say the cyborgs can't stop their programming of serving humans" or "shows the gory end of desperation to please the audience at any cost". Idk. It reminds me of Fargo where it starts off slowly and you think you can stop the momentum but before you know it you are really far down in Fuckedville.
