I am a sucker for books where the heroine gets a chance at her childhood or high school crush. Abby had the biggest crush on Rex all through school. He was the homecoming king and is now a pro football star. Imagine her surprise when Rex shows up at Abby's bar. She helps him out and is immediately filled with those same feelings. When he starts to show interest in her, is it too good to be true? Or could it be something real?

I thought this was really cute, I only wish the story would have moved along a little faster. The middle dragged when they were not communicating their feelings. It seemed like Abby should have seen how Rex was feeling about her.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Joy Nash. She did a great job of reading Penny Reid's quirky dialogue. I look forward to reading or listening to the next installment of this series. ( )

Good unrequited love story. I enjoyed the hero and the heroine. It all hung together and made sense which is sometimes not the case with these fake relationship stories. ( )

Imagine having a secret crush on a person since elementary school. You are in your late 20's working as a bartender and in walks your crush. Your crush who is now a famous footballer, and doesn't recognize you, who is fall down drunk, him. While drunk Rex makes a shocking proposition, Abigail's life will never be the same.
Such a fun read, as always Penny Reid writes some of the best characters. I loved all of them in this book. The banter between them was LOL worthy. The road was long for this relationship but such a great ride. ( )

Very quick read. I really like Penny Reid's books and this one was no exception. Looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. ( )

I love Penny Reid books, so I was very happy to find this start to a new series. It's a slow-burn romance and a second chance for Abby who's had a crush on Rex, her high school football star. Rex has gone on to fame and fortune but is mostly known because of the way all the women he dates go on to marry his friends. A chance meeting in the bar where Abby works leads to an unusual meet-cute. Abby has given up on love, dating, and men, though there's still a small flame burning for Rex who is just a sweetheart.
I really enjoyed this story. The characters are real people with real feelings which I bought into completely (a Penny Reid trademark btw). Abby and Rex are cute together and I look forward to more in the series. ( )
